ALRO AP12LE

Alro, one of the largest aluminium smelters in Continental Europe, and AP reached an agreement in April 2018 to implement at Slatina a new low energy reduction pot design (AP12LE) that will allow Alro to reduce the amount of electricity needed to produce aluminium.

The first AP12LE successfully started in May 2019 and this new lining design has been used since then as the standard one. At the end of 2019, more than 25 AP12LE pots were in operation. AP Technology™ experts from our AT 4.0 team are providing support to Alro through a combination of on-site missions and remote support.

The AP12LE technology targets an energy consumption below 13 MWh/t. A statistical evaluation of the first 21 AP12LE pot performances is taking place beginning of 2020 to confirm that this technology is meeting Alro’s expectations.
